Elizabeth Camillo, Forensic Investigative Accountant, Accredited Trainer
Elizabeth holds the following credentials: Member of CPA Australia; Masters of Business in Professional Accounting; Post Graduate Diploma in Management; Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economic History and Politics; Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; and Certificate III in Investigative Services.
Prior to commencing her own business, Elizabeth was employed by the Law Institute of Victoria as an Inspector and later as a Senior Investigator. These roles provided her with a significant and broad experience of the various types of operating procedures employed by law practices in Victoria. Elizabeth developed an understanding of the challenges facing law practices and the unique differences between businesses operating within a regulatory framework as opposed to those that do not.
In addition to conducting routine investigations of Victorian law practices and the review of complaints and claims upon the fidelity fund, Elizabeth undertook the continuing professional development of legal practitioners and the training of law practice support staff in the areas of practice management, risk management and regulatory accounting. For a number of years she had the responsibility of delivering a similar course on trust accounting on behalf of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Before commencing employment with the Law Institute of Victoria, Elizabeth taught at Post Graduate level at a Victorian university and worked in finance in the fields of policing, hospitality, financial services and manufacturing. This breath of experience has ensured she is well versed in the corporate operating environment and holds an appreciation that training is required to constantly remind us of our obligations within this environment.
The continuing educational development of those employed in the legal industry is paramount to ensure that regulatory requirements are complied with and constantly observed. A failure to observe this may lead to non-compliance reviews and complaints raised by clients for professional misconduct.
Elizabeth is passionate and committed to regulatory compliance training and has trained staff within accounting firms, conducted CPD in-house training for major law practices, and presented regional Victoria CPD educational seminars.
