CPD Guide: 1 (PM, PS)

This webinar will be presented by Simone Herbert-Lowe and follows her very successful and informative presentation Up Close and Personal - Cybersecurity and the Modern Law Firm at the Property and Commercial Law Conference is 2019. The recording of that session can be found here.

With many law firms now working remotely, cyber risk awareness is more important than ever. In this session we will look at:

  • How cyber events and human error typically occur.
  • The ways in which cyber criminals now seek to access a network or commit funds transfer frauds via a firm’s people  - and how this is even more likely under WFH arrangements.
  • Tell-tale signs of scams and phishing emails, texts and phone calls.
  • Privacy, confidentiality and other factors to consider with remote working arrangements.
  • Security  risks associated with video conferencing.

Simone Herbert-Lowe, Director, Law & Cyber has over 20 years expertise in lawyers’ professional responsibility. She has recently established Law & Cyber to provide cyber resilience advice on the “people” aspects of cyber risk, including professional and legal obligations.

Simone was previously Manager, Strategy & Innovation and Senior Claims Solicitor at PII insurer Lawcover in NSW, where she led the company’s innovative response to cyber risk, including the launch of its group cyber policy. She was a member of Lawcover’s cyber risk committee and managed the company’s cyber claims portfolio. Simone has managed more than 2000 claims against lawyers and is a regular contributor to the Law Society of NSW Journal.

Law & Cyber offers several intensive online courses around cyber resilience - see here for details.
