Who should attend?

  • If  you missed out on hearing from Linden Barnes on her last few visits to Tasmania do yourself a favour and get along to this thought-provoking and entertaining session using hypotheticals and cases to examine the Australian Solicitor's Conduct Rules.
  • For those who attended last year, come and learn more as Linden further explores the ASCRs using new hypotheticals about the Rules.

There will be an opportunity for group discussion and consideration.

The Australian Solicitors Conduct Rules are set to come into force in Tasmania in 2019.

To assist practitioners to prepare, Linden will guide practitioners through the rules during this interactive session, and highlight some key areas of interest (including confidentiality, conflicts, relationships with other persons including communications with another solicitor's client, and inadventent disclosure).

What will become of the current Rules of Practice 1994 will also be covered.

The Speaker

Linden Barnes, Senior Ethics Solicitor, Law Society of New South Wales is pleased to be coming back to Tasmania to visit Hobart to discuss the Solicitors Conduct Rules. Linden presented this seminar in the North and North-West of the state earlier this year.

Linden has been an Ethics Solicitor with the NSW Law Society for 8 years. She provides guidance to solicitors about their ethical obligations, and conducts ethics presentations and writes ethics articles.  Linden commenced as a lawyer in insurance litigation and has since worked in generalist in-house roles.
