Temporary Injunctions

The Hon Peter Heerey AM QC will discuss the legal principles applicable to temporary injunctions and the tactical considerations that arise in seeking, and opposing them.

The Law Society of Tasmania and the Faculty of Law, University of Tasmania are pleased to welcome Mr Heerey to the Society for an afternoon's discussion with the opportunity for a Q & A session.

About the Speaker:

The Hon Peter Heerey AM QC graduated with degrees in Law (First Class Honours) and Arts from the University of Tasmania.  After 23 years at the Victorian Bar he was appointed a judge of the Federal Court of Australia in December 1990.  He retired in February 2009.

While on the court his judicial work primarily involved intellectual property, competition law, administrative law, taxation and general commercial law. He was also president of the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal. After retirement, Mr Heerey served a term as Chair of the Australian Electoral Commission.
