Managing and Understanding High Conflict Personalities

Law Society of Tasmania

CPD Points

Law Society of Tasmania

28 Murray Street Hobart, TAS

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from renowned international trainer, author and public speaker Megan Hunter, who is back in Australia by popular demand.

Extreme behaviour and uncontrolled emotions. Blaming others. Prolonged, unresolved conflict. Time consuming and energy sapping. Sound like any of your clients, opposing counsel or colleagues?

Legal practice can be difficult: don't let a high conflict personality make it even more so.  This practical and skills-oriented half-day workshop, presented by international presenter and professional legal educator Megan Hunter, will equip you to manage difficult personalities with minimal damage to your sanity, your workplace cohesion or the outcome of the matter at hand.

Learn to identify high conflict personalities early and gain practical techniques and strategies to reduce their negative impact on your quality of life and work. Participants will be given opportunities to practise new techniques during the workshop, ensuring they leave equipped with concrete and enduring skills to manage, or avoid, conflict.

The workshop will also address some of the common challenges that arise with high conflict personalities who often push normal boundaries, seek favours, have a sense of entitlement, don't pay their bills and are the people most likely to file complaints.

Megan's tour has been made possible by the combined effort of law societies across Australia.  Proudly sponsored  in Tasmania by Legal Super and Stewart Title.

Who should attend?

Everyone involved in the legal profession – lawyers, consultants, mediators, paralegals and practice support staff – will benefit from this presentation.

Although you’ll attend this workshop for professional reasons, you’ll also gain insight into your family, friends, significant others, your kids, your boss, co-workers and neighbours.  The strategies you will learn, and the relief you will feel once you understand their dynamics, will be empowering!
